Grades K–9 · STEM & Academics · Los Angeles

Personalized STEM enrichment and test prep for students in Grades K–9.

Honors students at Harvard-Westlake. Leaders and captains of the FRC Robotics Team 1148. We have hands-on experience with CAD, 3D printing, robotics, programming, and academics.

Our focus is Grades K–9, but we do not limit topics by grade. A fourth grader learning Python or a sixth grader working through trigonometry is exactly the kind of student we work with.

Who we are Three honors students who compete in FRC robotics, build real engineering projects, and enrich students in STEM and academics.

Fill out the form and it goes directly to mjm.tutoring.co@gmail.com. We read every request ourselves. Include your student's grade and what you are looking for. Grades K–9 is our main focus, but let us know if you want above-grade-level work and we will plan for it.

Who we are

We are honors students at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles. We spend most of our time on FRC Robotics Team 1148's fabrication and mechanical subteam, prototyping, machining, and assembling competition robots.

We teach and enrich because we want to share what we know. We run 3D printers at home and have experience taking designs from CAD to finished parts.

Why choose us

  • Real engineering experience Fabrication, CAD, machining, and robotics through FRC 1148, not just classroom knowledge.
  • Strong academic foundation Honors coursework at Harvard-Westlake across math, science, writing, and programming.
  • Personalized sessions We match the tutor to the subject and adjust each session to your student's pace and goals.
  • No grade limits We teach advanced topics to younger students when they are ready. Grade is not a barrier.
  • Hands-on project support We have 3D printers and experience with robotics kits and can support actual builds.

Who we work with

  • Grades K–9 students Our main focus. We work with a range of ages and learning styles.
  • Students who want help with school Homework, test prep, essay writing, and study habits.
  • Students interested in STEM projects Robotics kits, CAD, 3D printing, and programming. We can guide a project from start to finish.

We keep sessions structured and adjusted to each student.

What we teach

Organized by category below. Grade is not a limit. If something is not listed, ask and we will let you know if one of us is a good fit.

Academic enrichment
  • Math: arithmetic through precalculus (algebra, geometry, trigonometry), homework help, test prep, and problem solving
  • Science: biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science, including concepts, problem sets, lab prep, and exam review
  • Writing and essays: structure, drafts, and editing for school assignments
  • Study skills: planners, note-taking, and habits for managing the week
  • ISEE and test prep: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, and math achievement, including practice sets and timing strategy
Programming
  • Java and object-oriented programming: classes, inheritance, debugging
  • Python: variables, loops, functions, and applied projects for beginners through intermediate learners
  • Scratch: beginner-friendly block-based coding
  • CodeMonkey: guided coding puzzles and courses as needed
Engineering & projects
  • CAD: Tinkercad, Onshape, Revit, Rhino, Blender, for class, robotics, or personal projects
  • 3D printing: from design to finished part, including tolerances, slicing, and troubleshooting
  • Robotics kits: VEX GO and VEX IQ, builds, programming basics, and competition prep
  • Hardware projects: sketching ideas, building parts lists, wiring, and iterating on a design
  • Robotics mentorship: how FRC works at Harvard-Westlake, useful for students already on a team or looking to get into competitive robotics

Courses & packages

For students who want a structured, goal-oriented program rather than drop-in sessions. Each package is 10 hours and covers a topic from start to finish — with a clear outcome at the end.

  • Complete Design Course — CAD, 3D printing, and physical implementation. Design a part, print it, and bring it to life. Ideal for students curious about engineering and fabrication.
  • Intro to Programming — No experience needed. Covers core programming concepts using beginner-friendly tools, building toward real projects.
  • Python Course — From syntax basics to writing functional programs. Covers variables, loops, functions, and applied projects.
  • Java Course — Object-oriented programming fundamentals: classes, methods, inheritance, and debugging. Great for students preparing for AP CS or competitive programming.
  • ISEE Prep Course — Targeted prep across all four ISEE sections: verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, and math achievement.

Packages are offered at a discounted rate. Email us at mjm.tutoring.co@gmail.com with your student's goals and we'll put together the right option for you.
